All Immigrant Students Welcome at Washington Colleges
Federal law has mandated since 1982 that all children living within the U.S. borders have equal access to education, regardless of their citizenship status. That right was extended in 1996 when undocumented students were allowed to attend college. The laws were further in Washington state when former Governor Gary Locke signed into law House Bill 1079 in 2003, which granted undocumented students access to in-state college tuition.
